Elements, the parent company, has done significant damage to the morale of this environment by brutally laying off thirty-six employees right before Christmas without notice nor cause. The Ranch espouses a "family" atmosphere but cannibalizing your own staff is not a family value. It's not that they laid people off: business is business and sometimes there has to be reduction. It's how it was done: no advance warning, no severance, police escort off campus. The Ranch created more trauma that it treated, for those staff that were laid off and for the staff that had to carry on after they were gone, not to mention the current clients who witnessed it and lost connections with staff with whom they had formed significant therapeutic bonds.
