Pros

Medical Benefits when Salaried/FT hours. Product discounts. Co-workers you can relate with being within a specialty retail environment. No late night closing hours.

Cons

Overworked and underpaid (especially when working alone in store from stringent hours budgets from upper management/ownership). Head office staff seem to take on multiple roles amongst various departments. Salaries only seem to be reviewed when you initiate and press about it. No regular performance reviews, even as minimum wages have increased yearly, stores have become much busier, and sales numbers remain profitable. Upper management, buyers, ownership do not communicate well enough to the store level. Request for products not replenished regularly during peak seasons. Consideration of products being requested from in store customers, relayed to buyers, not heard/dismissed. No ability for growth further than becoming a store manager.
