From personal experience, GSR is the only position where you are allowed to say no to extra work and take off for anything you need. Once I was promoted and had to deal with upper management I realized that this company only cares about the bottom line...MONEY. Anyone in upper management isn't allowed to have off days unless it is convenient for the store. You can't call in because then they have to send the other manager in and if they say no, then they send the Regional Manager. If the Regional manager doesn't like you, they will tell you know for every request, but let the other manager at your store have whatever they want. I had my General Manager verbally abuse me multiple times and my Regional manager decided to side with the GM and tell me that I must be over reacting. After putting up with the abuse for a few months I decided to quit. Point is, don't take the promotions, they are a trap. The GMs and SMs that are favorites get to do whatever they want while the rest of us have to sell our soul to the store.
