Unstable business with constant layoffs

Pros

Remote work... and that's about it.

Cons

Ticketer has ruined careers by recruiting people who already had stable jobs elsewhere, only to terminate their employment just weeks later - through no fault of their own. Bonuses haven't been paid in years, and the general vibe in the company right now is downright depressing. There are no opportunities for career advancement. If you're interviewing here, just ask "When was the last time someone in your team got promoted?" - and watch them fumble up an answer. Layoffs happen every few months, despite repeated empty promises from the CEO that "this time will be the last". Upper management is not only shockingly incompetent but downright unpleasant, effectively running what was once a great business into the ground. And if you're a developer? Brace yourself for an outdated tech stack littered with tech debt that you will have to maintain - WinCE and .NET Framework in 2025? Good luck putting that on your CV.

Pros

Unfortunately there aren’t any left.

Cons

Since the founder John retired the company has been in steep decline. The previous culture of putting the customer and staff first has all but disappeared. There has been a succession of leadership changes and restructures but these are simply rearranging the deckchairs on the titanic as they fail to address the core issues of culture, strategy and competency at the leadership level. Middle managers have been blamed and some have been hired and fired within 2 months. Morale is extremely low and a large proportion of the staff are looking to leave sooner rather than later. Benefits have not kept up with the market and there have been a number of redundancies, pay freezes, expenses clamp downs and various other cost cutting measures.

Pros

I joined Ticketer in late 2023 and was excited to join a team doing some really interesting work, with a great product. I found the dev and QA team very friendly and welcoming, if not a little unloved by the rest of the company. The other parts of the business again were very friendly towards me

Cons

It became very apparent, very quickly i had joined a business that was trying its best, but failing in a few areas and from reading the other reviews it has got much worse. The core people that run Ticketer seemed unwilling to change, and were very sceptical of the abilities of the development department. They already had a very competent Dev Manager in place who I found to be excellent, but also weirdly had the ex Dev Manager working for them as a contractor which made things quite awkward. I unfortunately was put on gardening leave after only being at the company for 8 weeks as it turned out they had hired me at a time when a £large hole in finances had been discovered. It was a very traumatic time for me
