Pros

Night hours Independent contractors can be nice

Cons

The work is somewhat stressful as a Field Manager. You're expected to deal with upwards of 80+ independent contractors. The work was 7 days a week pre pandemic then it switched to 2 days a week and mandatory days to come in. The job responsibilities don't match the pay. You're expected to scan. Sign contracts with independent contractors (26 pages long). Work 10-14 hours at a time. With no breaks. If a contractor doesn't show up you and your team must communicate ( which doesn't happen) between the center and other managers out in the field ( almost every employee in the center is a authority figure) and it doesn't work well. Then deliver the paper routes that are long tedious and sometimes dangerous areas. You will mostly drive your vehicle. You will work doubles or mornings and nights. You will be expected to call people and recruit independent contractors as well as call irate customers and talk them down out of dropping the newspaper. And if your metrics aren't good enough you'll be talked to and under a magnifying glass. You're expected to get people to sign contracts. And fulfilling unrealistic status quotas.

Pros

Cared about employees, good leadership, and reasonable expectations.

Cons

Very difficult industry due to declining print revenue. Constantly doing more with less.
