Pros

1) Decent benefits. 2) Training is offered.

Cons

1) Call center. Everything is monitored and tracked by management including bathroom time, whether you're one minute late, number of policies touched, etc. Not to mention, QA is also closely critiquing you constantly. 2) NFIP is largely despised. Many agents can’t stand the NFIP, mostly due to stringent requirements and procedures. At least once a day you will endure this hatred on a call if you're an underwriter or claims examiner. 3) QA process. A QA person will look at many transactions and calls each month and nitpick tons of small things you did "wrong" (many of which are not made clear in training). Promotions and bonuses are based upon these QA scores, so underwriters are constantly agonizing over whether or not QA will mark them down, all while trying to show good “customer service,” which is nearly impossible. The resulting picture we have is underwriters requesting all sorts of ridiculous and unnecessary items as a CYA for QA grading, which, in turn, cause agents to hate the NFIP more. 4) Career development is nearly non-existent. HR and upper management can make it seem like opportunities are abundant due to Marsh's size, but this is not true. There are really no opportunities for advancement outside of Torrent. And unless you want to advance to senior underwriter or senior claims examiner, you’re pretty much stuck. You will also quickly find out that flood is looked at as a joke in the industry. Marsh employees at other offices will go out of their way to disassociate themselves from the Torrent name (not that Marsh’s reputation in KC is much better).
