Dread going to work

Pros

Casual dress, work from home in snow storms, decent PTO, occasional after work team outings (as long as you don't do something to anger the boss) not much else to say here...

Cons

The CEO micromanages everything and has frequent mood swings. When I go to work I don't know whether to be friendly or say nothing. He's made jokes about firing employees, about choking employees and tries to pit people against each other. It's a hostile work environment and since people are fired for no reason at all, I fear for my job.

Thank you for your review. Your negative experience seems to be geared more toward myself, the CEO, than the actual company. I am sorry that you feel this way. I have always tried to build close, almost family like, relationships with the staff. In your case, it seems I fell quite short. To joke about choking employees is a serious allegation that I do not take lightly. It is hurtful and inaccurate. I would definitely encourage anybody to come for a personal visit with my staff to get a better idea of our company culture. Relative independence to take a role and run with it into a wall. You will never tire of asking for information that only one person might have access to while your customer is on the phone.

Cons

As you can see by the glowing reviews, they feel very strongly about multi-tasking. This is a valuable attribute but there’s a very passive aggressive and defensive tone to these reviews that is more telling than the number of stars given. This is what you can expect. Leadership is extremely fickle. The culture is positive until it absolutely isn’t. As long as you know what you’re signing up for, your tenure with this company may serve as a good life lesson or a slap in the face.

I have been working at Total Party Planner for over a year now and I have to say that this is an amazing place to work!! What makes it so amazing is the positive team environment in our small business workplace. There are many great opportunities to help you grow your career, and handwork will not go unnoticed! Also all of my other co workers are very friendly and we all play a huge roll in working together to help assist caterers streamline their business. Your voice will be heard in our collaborative team building environment. Also our management will always be there to assist you in anyway they can so you perform to the best of your abilities.
