Pros

- Top-notch development team. You will be CHALLENGED. - Great team culture. Management involves developers in the interview process, so everyone who makes it onto the team is a good fit. The team is friendly, helpful and humble. No big egos here. - As of this writing, the CXOs are people who have been with the company since it started nearly 15 years ago. The president and CTO wrote the early version of the software themselves. They're smart and technical, and unlike many professional managers they understand software development back to front. - The development team works remotely. 'Nuff said. - Management takes the dev team seriously and allows the team to determine how to organize work and what tools to use. - This company is growing and will really hit its stride in the next 5 years.

Cons

- TrackAbout solves difficult real-world problems in tracking assets through space and time, and the code reflects that in places. The development team takes code quality seriously, but there are spots in the code that are just plain hard to understand and modify. - The code base is large--over 1 million lines--so it's challenging to understand the big picture. - As of this writing, the project management team is short-staffed, which means developers often end up bearing the brunt of determining the requirements for new features. This often results in wasted time and effort, since developers aren't in the best position to know what end users want and need.

Pros

* The people - everybody at TrackAbout is smart, hard working, and really nice. And this is true at every level of the company. * TrackAbout is writing software to solve real world problems. You’re helping companies track their assets worldwide, which is pretty cool to be part of. * As a developer, you’re always encouraged to try new things, bring in new tech (where it makes sense) and experiment. * The codebase is huge. I mean, really big. And at times can be complicated. But if/when you introduce a bug there are no lashes. Instead you work to fix it and figure out how to prevent it going forward, then everyone moves on. * Most employees work from home, which is amazing. TrackAbout does remote really well. * The team is really good - you will learn a ton.

Cons

* The codebase is huge. I mean, really big. And at times can be complicated. * It’s a relatively small company that is doing a lot. So sometimes it can be overwhelming - but not always or even often. * There can be a disconnect between developers and customers. Developers rarely talk w/ support and mostly depend on PM to tell them the customer stories which can result in a lack of empathy for support/customers when building the product.
