Pros

-Employee discount -Free products to try -Quick and easy interview -Schedule posted well in advance

Cons

-Massive Favoritism! Some girls are snubbed out if they don't fit in with the cliquey high school attitude. Others will get away with leaving early, constantly being late or not helping with cleaning duties. But if you express concern about having to constantly pick up the slack and then having to stay longer yourself, when one of these girls clocks out early. You will be told the cleaning is a group effort and to suck it up. If it is a group effort, than why do some of the other employees always leave the cleaning for someone else. -Hours not promised discussed in the interview. Promised full time hours, than given the bare minimum to be considered full time. -Constantly reminded to sell and smile.. If you work retail you already know that your job is to sell and be friendly to customers. Constantly being told throughout the day be more chipper and sell, sell, sell gets old really quickly. -No trust. If you are a full time employee and you are not making enough money at the end of the month to pay your bills because you are a strong independent woman who lives on her own, with no help for any of your bills. Do not tell anybody you are searching for a second job because it will be taken the wrong way by management. Even if your plan was to have two jobs, you will be hauled out of the store where the manager will act offended and tell you, that you are being paid good money. -Degrading. I was pulled out of the store a couple times for a talking to. When I was being told off, I was then told about things I had done or said that came as a complete shock to me and when I tried to say something, I was told I don't have a voice and don't get to speak. As well, I was told I need to be careful when recommending products and that customers came back to complain about the products I sold to them, but I was then not told what products I recommended wrong. Yet, one week before a customer came back to thank me on how much she loved a product I sold to her. I was also pulled out of the store to be more perky not long after a old man thanked me for being so pleasant to him. It was also as if management was looking for the tiniest reason to criticize. It came to the point I was treading so careful that when a customer came in, to return something generally not acceptable and I asked the manager to do it. After the customer had left. I was approached and told I should know how to do that transaction by now, insinuating with a tone that I must be stupid if I didn't know after working several weeks. It was not because I didn't know how to do it, but it was because I was so concerned that if I accepted the product back, in the condition it was, that management probably would have scolded me on that as well.
