Pros

The company is an exemplar of the old boys' network. They get plum assignments that are very interesting, challenging, and prestigious. The clients are Canada's largest companies (mainly financial - big banks and insurance). Your colleagues are generally going to be very good at what they do.

Cons

Management's attitude is "We hire professionals - you shouldn't need us." What that translates to is "We get credit when things go well, and blame you when they don't." They pay you decently but charge your time to the client at ~$200 / hour. You are encouraged to work long hours because they charge for your time, though your compensation is salary based.

Pros

- Company attracts strategy and high complexity multi-year initiatives - You will likely be working with a high skilled team in a long term assignment - Company leaders are easily available and will make time to brainstorm challenges faced in each assignment - Flat organization with no internal politics

Cons

- Supporting structure to consultants on the field not always clear - Frank (no sugar coating) performance conversations (which to me is a pro) could be interpreted as a negative experience by some individuals
