Don't Plan On Staying

Pros

The only positive that I can think of is that the employees get to leave a little early on some Fridays, maybe an hour or so. You get a decent Christmas bonus. Other than that I can not think of any positive reasons to work for this employer.

Cons

Where to start? The office is very poorly run for such a visible law firm. There is no leadership, no positive feedback, no interoffice communications unless you do something wrong, little to no training and no chance of promotion. The workload is crazy and the expectation to handle it is even higher because if you cant they will fire you. The owner Piercy Stakelum may or may not know what goes on in his office but he doesnt really care anyway. Favoritism runs rampant so beware. As far as compensation, they will pay as little as they can get away with. They offer insurance benefits and they pay 3/4 and you pay 1/4, however, there is a 6 month waiting period. You get 2 weeks paid time off a year and that includes vacation and sick time. If you have no choice but to take a job at this office, do what you are told and dont ask questions. Dont get comfortable and I would continue looking for another job.

Pros

Good salary and they let you go home on Fridays once in a while.

Cons

Attorneys treat their Paralegals as if they are beneath them. They give them no respect. They attorney that I worked for actually went into an attorney meeting and told the other attorneys that the Paralegals cannot be trusted with mail because they were not competent enough to understand correspondence from adjusters. They do things with cases that are questionable.
