Pros

I started at Trifork Amsterdam right after university, with prospects of great senior developer colleagues to learn from, inside trainings to follow, meet ups serviced from our office and a diverse set of projects to be a part off. All of these promises were kept in the years to come. This was with differing success over the years though. I definitely learned a lot real quick, which I'm tremendously thankful for. But I've also seen big shifts in management perspectives over the years I've worked here. Three years ago I would have told you to probably look for a different company, but I'm fully recommending the work place at this point in time. There are lots of people to learn from, there are still several interesting trainings being held, we have meet ups every several weeks with interesting speakers and the majority of the projects are nice to work for. So, if you've just finished uni and you want to learn a lot of diverse, interesting topics in the software business, I'd take your chances at Trifork Amsterdam.

Cons

In the years I've worked at Trifork, management seemed to shift quite often between goals. When I started off at Trifork Amsterdam 3 years ago, the office was bustling with lots of interesting people. Sadly enough, this setup was changed by the management changed, in favor of out door projects (for probably bigger cash flows). This wasn't a pleasant change in my view, as I lost contact with the majority of Trifork office and it's colleagues. It has to be said this is an experience from 3-2 years ago, and the office is shifting back to having as much in house projects as possible, to achieve the much wanted and valuable cross-pollination between all the colleagues. I still think however this should be pushed through a bit more, as the people who work here definitely make it worthwhile.

Could be a dream company

Pros

Disclaimer: My review is about Trifork.nl which was formerly DutchWorks (formerly Orange11 and even if you go further it was called JTeam!). Core team of company has been together for many years and despite several rebrandings, merge and acquisitions the super ninja technical guys are there. The team has strong connections with SpringSource and ElasticSearch if you are interested in those java tools. If you are looking forward a classic and capable custom development shop based on Java technologies here is the place. Nice office and friendly colleagues are a big plus.

Cons

Disclaimer: My review is only about Trifork (Amsterdam) and as far as I've heard from friends in other offices of Trifork in Denmark & Switzerland these are not true in their offices. * No focus at all: There is no vision, no plan and no nothing. They just say yes to any project proposal. Web, mobile, consulting , training you name. You may be juggling between 3 projects at a time that usually all of them are behind schedule and under fire. * Dishonesty by management: Some high ranked managers are strong believer in playing games, being super opportunist at any cost, trying to sell your billable hours under any circumstance and worst than all: micro management. * Not that much international in hearth: I know they like to be, and love to be considered as an office with international culture but this is not the exact case. However this is not necessarily bad thing and depends on your own mileage.

Pros

- No micromanagement. There is trust in people to make the right decisions. - The Teal model (business units split once they grow to 42 people) gives faster trajectory to get leadership experience as a young person, if you want that - Freedom to work with what you think is fun and stimulating - Innovation spirit in the company is high. They invest in startups that also come from inside the organization. - Pretty cool customers and solutions being built - Good mood most places - a company that is growing - You are in charge of your own work-life balance. Work hard and get rewarded if you want that. Leave at 5pm if you want that.

Cons

- Pay isn't industry-leading but it's pretty decent, acceptable given all the pros
