A Toxic Environment with Potential

Pros

Potentially a Christian ministry setting which could positively impact and make a difference in lives everywhere. Despite management's best efforts, some sincere Some Christians do work there and do good work at that, but it just doesn't always see daylight due to internal politics. TBN is slowly working to update equipment and infrastructure, now all that is needed is an update in management.

Cons

Very toxic environment. "At-will" is emphasized. Due to court cases in the past year, management is suspicious of all employees' motivations and level of access at all times. Assets and donation use are not transparent. Workplace bullying happens which is surprising for a "Christian" organization. Mandates come from upper management, with no basis for the reality of departments, department resources, or current industry/non-profit trends. Though you can "clock out" at the end of the day, most evenings are spent stressing about how you can do the work demanded with no resources from the company to assist you and a constant threat of being fired, should the job does not get done to the miraculous standards expected. There is no training or opportunity for advancement. There is no internal support, either. Hopefully this can change, as there are some talented people working there.

Stagnant, Unhealthy Work Place Culture

Pros

While working at TBN for six years I met and worked with some genuine believers, and some fantastic local and national pastors, recording artists, authors, movie makers, and leaders. I loved what my job entailed.

Cons

Poorly run ministry, stagnant culture, and bad decisions were made on a daily basis both corporate and per station. Old style management undermines any hope for healthy employee morale. You weren't allowed to come up with ideas or talk.... "Just do as you're told to do, don't talk." "No" is a common word. Micro-management like I've neer seen before because employees are not trusted. Very low pay, no raises ever. Contracted crew had their hourly pay severely cut several times while I was there. Unfortunately, because they are not willing to come close to industry standard pay, they attract some incompetent people.

Pros

unless you love jesus so much your willing to live in poverty for him...nothing

Cons

Jesus all day everyday. Sketchy "preachers" that only want to be on tv, not help people. Corp, does not communicate with ANYBODY. Extremely low pay for job. Was there a few years with no raise, and if I ask for one all I get is "You work for jesus, you don't need a raise. he will provide". Now don't get me wrong, religion is cool and all but jesus isn't paying my mortgage. I do 4 different jobs, and 3 of them were started because they needed someone to fill in till they could find a replacement. Its been more than a year now and they haven't even started looking for a replacement or even given a thanks, good job, way to go, heres a cost of living raise...nothing. Dont even get me started on some of the fanatically religious people that have been hired to do some of the non tech jobs.
