Pros

Extremely talented and capable coworkers below executive leadership. Healthcare benefits are covered at about 90%.

Cons

Let me preface everything by saying until *both* the CEO, Ryan Bartlett, and President, Ben Yahalom, step down or are replaced, not a single thing will ever change at this company - they are the root of every problem. There is no upward trajectory at the company - they will sell this to you as a false promise in your interview. Tell you about these "growth opportunities" that are non-existent. If you are lucky, you will be promoted up their fixed ladder system, but only at the end of the year (unless you are a favorite, of course, then you can be promoted at any time!). Director titles do not come with decision making power - only decisions are made by executive leadership, and in an untimely manner that will have you and your team scrambling to get things done the day before the "urgent" due date set by Ben or Ryan (everything is urgent). Bonuses are based entirely on company performance. Their baseline for company performance is based upon exponential growth year over year - so *hint hint* no bonus for you, because in what world is that type of growth sustainable 5+ years later? You and your team will be dissected, micromanaged, and questioned at every decision making point - because the CEO and President must know better, right? Right. If you make a mistake, be prepared to get put on blast in a public channel for the rest of your coworkers (sometimes even external vendors) to see! If you're lucky, or if you were one of the first 10 employees, you will survive the semi-annual round of mass layoffs. Performance has no factor in layoffs - it's just based on department (I'm taking to you marketers and creatives! Run away!) Oh and definitely don’t speak up for yourself or coworkers, that’ll get you fired too. If you’re director level or above, get ready for random phone calls from Ben or Ryan at any given time with no warning - most likely asking for an “urgent” task that they will then forget about in 3-5 business days and never speak of again.

HR is a joke, that’s the summary. Pretend they don’t exist.

If you’re hired, get ready to manage about 15 different vendors. Why build an internal team when you can exploit agencies to do the job at half the cost and have your internal employees fix the half-assed job they did? If you made it this far, you likely care a lot about your career and well-being, so do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for a job. Nobody deserves to be subjected to a place like this.

Pros

Pay and benefits were above average

Cons

The company does not have a culture beyond making money. They like to “move fast,” at all costs. The founder and president are egomaniacs with very little retail or leadership experience. They both yell often, in one on ones and during broader meetings. They were famous for talking crap about all of their employees openly at their home office in front of their EA, creating a very uncomfortable situation and a wild rumor mill. They search for experts with years of experience and knowledge only to tell them their experience means nothing and undermine them. People are fired often. There is no brand vision or point of view beyond making money. They are unique because of their pack offering, but they offer a subpar product and rely on gamification to improve KPIs. They tout loudly about giving back to the community but I did not witness ANY philothropy during my time there. It is a hostile toxic environment. Bodies of work start and then are quickly put aside for a new shiny idea. Women’s ideas are overlooked, but given runway when a male brings up the identical idea. Everything is always an emergency, there are no non working hours. Decisions were made on slack at 12 am. If you wanted to revisit in the morning because you were asleep it was not welcome. Mistakes were never tolerated or understood. Instead they were publicly broadcast for all to see on a large slack channel. HR is aware and has done nothing.

Pros

I learned more in my time at TC than I would have at many DTC brands. Unlike leadership, the employees were kind and intelligent humans. I’ve built incredible friendships with mentors and coworkers that continue to this day.

Cons

The culture was completely non-existent. Absolutely everything was extremely urgent, no matter how big or small. Nothing was planning in advance (because of leadership not employees). Last minute changes we not a rare occurrence but came to be expected every day/week. Working on weekends was expected, even at a low level. As was being available on slack at all hours. The favoritism was completely obvious. Even if you were one of the lucky few who leadership liked, it didn’t make up for the terrible work life balance, overall stress, and toxic workplace. We were encouraged to abuse vendors and agencies to make them do much more work than they agreed to, for the least amount of money possible.
