Pros

You work with a lot of FMCG brands. 21 days of leave. You can wear whatever you want to work

Cons

When I first joined, I can honestly say that I have learnt a lot about campaigns, Facebook ads, client servicing and the campaigns were pretty standard. However, as time went on, the campaigns became more and more complicated, which is fine because we learn from challenges. However, everyone became severely overworked where we would have to work on weekends, and sometimes during lunch breaks and staying past office hours. (There’s no OT, btw). Yes, the bosses may say they don’t want you to work overtime or on the weekends but honestly, we can’t afford not to as there’s simply not enough time during the working hours to complete all of the daily tasks. The bosses priorities the clients above the employees who are working hard to keep the campaigns going, even sacrificing their weekends and personal time just to ensure that deadlines are met. I can assure you that the employees have good time management but there is just too much on our plates that we can end up missing deadlines. When things fail, the bosses will just say it’s your fault when it’s not. When a campaign is successful, it’s a “Try and Review” accomplishment but when it fails or is in the process of failing, it’s all on you. They don’t even acknowledge you when your campaign is successful and just take credit for it. You gotta have thick skin if you wanna stay here for long. The HR is the boss so if you have any concerns or problems, good luck voicing it out because while they say they take your feedback seriously, it is all just words after all. Talk is cheap. Bosses have let people go over issues these employees cannot control, people left one by one because the workplace was so toxic and the workload is too much. Bosses also keep managers who don’t value add to the team and instead push their responsibilities to the people below them without batting their eyes. Bosses also don’t care about the complaints and politics when this happen. When the pandemic hit, we saw their true colours. Employees were practically working 24/7, bosses did not trust us working at home, signing on campaigns without any regard for our workload and doing dubious campaigns that I am personally not aligned with in terms of values such as integrity and transparency. I found some processes were also unethical but of course, the bosses do not care and will instruct us to do anything to close the campaigns. There are no opportunities for growth here. Unless you want to do the same thing everyday and not progress, then this place is perfect for you. It’s even better if you’re a “Yes Man”. The bosses also do not motivate you to grow either so you can be stuck in a loop the whole year. Plus, you won’t have the time to do any side projects because you’re just swamped with campaign work. Alot has changed over the later part of 2020, and in terms of job scope, it was no longer motivating nor satisfying. Also, who wants to make a career out of chasing people for reviews? In the long run, you won’t gain any transferable skills that you can use to sell yourself in future job interviews. Fyi, don’t believe all the reviews on this glass door page on Try and Review. Take it all with a grain of salt. Because they’re just sharing what’s on the surface level. Also, the bosses asks their employees to write honest (but good) reviews on this page. Oh and yes, they’re always hiring but that’s not necessarily because they’re growing. People are always leaving, regardless or their position. For some employees, the bosses will try to guilt trip them to stay and may attack their character when the employees have decided to leave. Turnover rate is high and it all boils down to the toxic company culture. No medical/ insurance You can’t take leave in peace, they also want you to notify them on taking leave at least 3 weeks beforehand which is ridiculous because there were times I had to take leave and notified them a few days beforehand and they’re quick to shoot you down and call you irresponsible. Sorry, it’s not my problem that you don’t hire enough people to be able to cover employees who are entitled to take their leave. What about emergencies? Do I need to clock that 3 weeks in advance too? Ridiculous. No long term growth in your career But there’s growth in politics. They don’t reward employees and don’t give pay raise Extremely heavy workload Micromanagement is a huge thing that the bosses are really into. I don’t understand why there are managers even if everything needs bosses’ approval. No transferable technical skills learned so it will be difficult for you, if you stay here for long, to find a job after because your skills are mainly just chasing people for reviews.

There's a reason why they are always hiring.

Pros

21 day leave, freedom to wear whatever to work.

Cons

There's no structure to the company, nor any trust between the bosses and employees. It's always they say you do, never listening to your opinions or suggestions during meetings. Dictatorship, basically. And they can never do any wrong, it's always down to you even if you feedback to them why you want to leave and how they can improve. If you did your best and what most people would have agreed were good results, it's never enough for the bosses. Not to mention there are little to no constructive feedback, but just a simple "I do not like it", or "This is bad/terrible" and whatever synonym you have for that. Overpromising with clients and never caring how the employees would have to balance the workload. Expect you to be a do it all and handle more than one position at a time. If you're a creative, you best be able to do statistics too. Perfectly. Loves micromanaging and requires approval for everything, but never replies even if it is urgent, then blames you for backlogs. Don't expect to have any form of work-life balance, you would be too exhausted from work by the end of the day to even think about it. Not to mention, for a company who boasts about "Authentic" and "Honest" reviews, they are anything but. They have manipulated stories to fit their narrative when explaining why someone left the company. And if they so even see a single bad review, trust them to try to hunt you down and flood out your review with other positive ones. To conclude, the fact that they are constantly hiring just shows something about the management, doesn't it.

Hello, We thank you for your review and advice. We are happy to try to address the various suggestions provided. You are right to highlight that we are constantly hiring, we are blessed to be a successful start-up with significant growth allowing us to hire often. The company has grown from zero to a 7-digit revenue and from a team of 2 people to a team of 20 in the span of 5 years. The company is composed of 3 teams: campaign team, sales team and marketing team. Each team has its own structure and internal meetings allowing people to be autonomous and suggest new ideas. Being a start-up, we have created our processes and are always improving on them. We also make mistakes but we learn by doing. When campaign results are disappointing, we strive to explain why so we can continuously improve. We are sorry that our feedback was too harsh at times, we will take your concerns into account going forward. The success of Try and Review comes from the quality of our work. We acknowledge that there is a lot of work to be done. We are demanding and it is a key reason why our customers are happy to work with us. Therefore Try and Review is more appropriate for those who enjoy multitasking and are willing to go beyond their comfort zone to experiment new things daily. A number of us being parents in the team, we know very well how the time at home with our families and kids is crucial and we provide the flexibility needed to be able to manage family and work. We often remind our teams to disconnect when they are not in office and ask them to stick to business hours. We also try to solve workload issues as fast as we can when needed. As we value feedback, we regularly ask our past and current employees for authentic and honest reviews highlighting both the pros and cons of working at Try and Review. As a small business, we also have to balance defamatory one-sided reviews that communicate false information with reasonable ones. But we would never “hunt down” former employees for positive reviews, and nobody has ever been forced to write a positive review on our Glassdoor page. We would have loved to get a chance to hear your feedback in person when you were still working with us. We still have many areas of improvement that we need to work on, including in the management of our teams and we always welcome constructive advice and suggestions. Rest assured that we review all of them in order to implement the most needed ones. We wish you good luck in your next career move.

Pros

They get new projects from good FMCG clients. Office near MRT

Cons

There is no work-life balance. We work all the days even on weekends. There is no respect for personal time. Very high attrition rate and minimal process documentation make it very difficult to work. Also no overtime!
