Pros

A lot of low hanging fruit

Cons

Forget the age of the equipment (50+ years old), the lack of any written procedures for anything (including safety protocols, and this is a foundry) the bigger concern is the outdated and highly misogynistic way of thinking of the people that have been there way too long (about half have been there 10+ years, it is common to find employees with 26 years of experience, 40 years, the minority are all the new people that keep on leaving.) This company is based in Birmingham Alabama, and the deep 'good old boy' culture has permeated every cell of this organization. There are zero women in the managerial ranks and one or two token women sprinkled here and there just to protect themselves. Same goes for minorities. Here if you are white and male, you get promoted, even in cases when you know nothing about the new job. Politics, not talent and good ideas rules the day here. If you choose to join expect: not recognizing your ideas, work and contributions, stealing these to make oneself look better, political gameplaying to belittle and put down people that are a threats because they actually know what they are doing- in some cases full on histrionics and screaming which nobody addresses. In general this is the classic toxic environment, but carries a lot of passive aggressiveness, lack of transparency, fairness and a certain degree of lack of ethics. Run from this place do not work here. This place paralyzes everyone to the point that nothing happens, nothing gets done of any value or note.

Pros

Co-Workers are easy to get along with

Cons

Machines aren’t fixed correctly or in a timely manner. They ignore safety even though that’s all they talk about. Electric panels, fire extinguishers, exits good luck getting near them in parts of the building. You offer ways to make things better they listen then nothing happens. Constantly dealing with broken or barely working equipment that you have to figure out because calling someone that has experience to fix it costs money. I won’t be here another month. Most of what I wrote I can back up with pictures I have so this is no B.S. avoid this place or risk getting injured. They hire bottom of the barrel no experience people and we move thousands of pounds of pipe around with the forklift and people with no experience should not be hired. We just had a person try to pick pipe up with the forklift the forks weren’t tilted back and the person ended up rolling the almost 20’ 800 pound pipe out of the garage door down the parking lot his bright idea was hop off the forklift And try to stop it with his foot lol. The person was trapped by the pipe it rolled over there leg. Another new person asked which pedal is the gas when trying to show them how to operate the forklift. This is no joke and only a few examples
