Profit over people

Pros

Definitely will help you pay the bills.

Cons

Cut back in commission - harder to obtain goals. Asks to much of managers; expected to go above and beyond but expected to do so for little pay. Company seems more focused on profit then obtaining and keeping talent and customers. Most of the DM's are unhelpful.

Pros

The staff and managers are ALL extremely friendly. I don't think I've ever worked at a company where I like every co-worker/manager I met.

Cons

The salary for my position is a bit low.

Pros

Opticians can travel to other locations, if they even respond to you and it's local. Thats the only way to get full time hours as a secondary optician here. part time gets 401k, and insurance if you can even afford to keep it. I don't even know if that's a pro.

Cons

-After 2 months of travel they cut travel comp for me no negotiation, same day warning by out of state manager. Then the regular manager will say you have to travel farther to get it......... -Lack of communication from other locations for needed optician coverage -higher management is out of state for Midwest Meijer and JCPenney brand locations so they will never have an accurate depiction of in store conflict. -Overall poor treatment of the standard of care law in Illinois and forcing blame onto the dispensary optician. -no communication with lens lab at all -OD denial of patients current vision quality, lots of reversion back to old rx's -no overtime despite state laws -no pan tilt, no BVD measuring tools -software issues frequently, small GUI on computer then blames optician -doctor denial of corrected curve formula for high prism and 4.00 power and up application -bad effective diameters and b heights in the computer constantly.

Pros

Free pair of glasses each year

Cons

Haven’t had a raise in 4 years. Not even a cost of living. Working weekends is mandatory for optical managers. Paid commission but the metrics keep changing to pay out less.

Pros

When I first began I had an understanding GM and great communication. It has not been so for a long time

Cons

The company sold our AAFES location to National Vision, and told us that they were going to employ all of us in new contract. The next day I was the only employee not to get the information request email for National. Us vision had no intention of telling me directly that I was not included in that sale and my position would be terminated. I won’t be employed past 3/31/26 when the sale finalizes. I would have shown up to unemployment on 4/1 if I didn’t reach out on my own with my managers support. I ran my office alone for well over a year. Now no one is set to care for it.
