Pros

Working with children is always a delightful experience. I would look forward to seeing them and had a strong bond with quite a few. I also enjoyed being able to teach my passion (Coding) and contributing to the UCode family.

Cons

I wasn't told up front that working with students via web conference meant I couldn't earn more because I wasn't reviewed on every shift like other Instructors. Even though I often had the most difficult students, ones with learning disabilities and health issues who couldn't come to the brick and mortar location, I was never able to move up and I was never offered a higher rate of pay. My reason for leaving; while working with a student, a person was being interviewed only feet from me. After she left the conversation between Nick Marks and another employee about her "look" made me especially uncomfortable. They discussed how that "look" meant she deserved a higher starting rate. Eventually, the focus shifted from an after school program, to a summer camp to a game studio. It seemed that educating children wasn't as important as their bottom line.
