Nepotism and Antiquated Management Ideas

Pros

Quite good health insurances plan.

Cons

Management concerned with maintaining their own high salaries and appointing family and friends to open positions regardless if they can do the jobs. Hate people working from home, and hate staff unions.

Do yourself a favor and don't work here

Pros

The benefits here were fine.

Cons

Everything else. This was just an awful working experience--toxic environment, horrific management, outright hostility toward staff, unbelievably bureaucratic.

Pros

My department is great, well paying and low stress. I personally have not experienced too many issues, but I've seen many play out for others.

Cons

HR, under the direction of Marc Perrone, disregards and disrespects unionized employees by regularly breaking the Guild contract and engaging in gaslighting. This makes it difficult for anyone with a disability, concerns about discrimination or other workplace issues, etc. to get any sort of help. I've even heard HR openly admit that they don't honor ADA accommodation requests, which discouraged me for applying for one. Sad to see in a "progressive" union. Marc Perrone's leadership also forced people to come into the office throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, even when all other DC international unions moved to telework. They are still highly inflexible about hybrid work. Work travel is hard, because the admin in charge of reimbursement is openly contemptuous of people's need to be reimbursed, to the point where traveling employees frequently complain about her, and avoid travel as much as possible.
