Pros

Paid on time, in full, decent schedule (not great, but decent), pretty nice people to work with.

Cons

Employed majority of college students who dictated their schedule, management who played favorites (BIG TIME), You are defintely replaceable, shady promotions, discrimination, Never going to change (even though they rethink EVERY SINGLE thing), no room for growth in career (it's very political, who you know..who you drink with..who you hang out with). No exit interview...or being the BEST place to work in Texas it doesn't see where it needs to improve or seem to care on how to fix it. Management is out of touch, but plays favorite.

Pros

Management cares about one thing, projecting a positive front to the world.

Cons

Over worked, crooked practices abound. The COO and CEO are snake oil salesmen at best. Stole MILLIONS by falsely billing Medicare, settled with US Justice Department for a $4 Million criminal fine and passed it off to employees and public as "it is difficult to bill correctly." I work with cardiologists who tell me how they are given kick-backs. This place is like a cult, if you don't drink the cool-aid, they try to destroy your entire life. I would be scared to cross these people. It is like the "Christian Mafia", with god father being the COO. In last 10 years, I have seen him crush and destroy the practice and lives of an internal medicine doctor, drove another to suicide, crushed a female doctor he didn't like and set up a guy who was charged criminally for some of the hospital's bad dealings. This place is worse than anything you could imagine taking place, but with a PR machine that makes everything look pure and white. And speaking of white, don't expect to advance if you aren't. They have ONE token minority Vice President out of about 20. One day, you're physician of the year or employee of the year. Then you cross the COO and you're accused of stealing, being a drug user, or billing illegally. This place is hell. I am looking to leave Texas and healthcare just so I am out of the grasps of this evilness.

Pros

Experience. You will gain tons of experience working in this facility and with so many different people and patients. At times, particularly in the beginning, you will experience a sense of team. There is always food, luncheons.

Cons

That sense of team eventually dies down. Everyone in the department feels as if they are superior to everyone else. They will make you feel small, as if your only purpose there is to "fetch" for them. It is condescending. I once had a therapist I was helping refer to me as the "gopher" of the department... in front of a patient. Rude!
