Pros

Money. This is it. Take into consideration cost of living and you're not doing that good, but in terms of police/security, they pay.

Cons

Zero job satisfaction, zero opportunity for advancement (unless you have major connections). This applies to intel, swat, threats, bomb squad, firearms, promotion, k9, patrol, everything. 1600 officers, intel, bomb squad, firearms, etc, take 2-4 new people every 5 years. If eventually you want day work with weekends off, you literally need 15 years on. Management (sgts, lts, captains, etc) are power-trip maniacs, have no people skills. I could go on all day, it's a horrible place to work. Go anywhere else. No joke, I did my best to warn you.

Pros

Solid training and job security Overtime is always available

Cons

Do your homework and read about the agency and the mission. Be aware of the culture of this place (very important - Google it). If you have an advance degree please just have patience and join a better agency.

Command Structure changes about every 2 years and as a result expectations and sometimes parts of the mission change.
