      Pros

      Easy transfers between agencies. Lots of opportunities for moves throughout the country. Self-determination of career path. Very attractive benefits.

      Cons

      Hard to feel in touch with the system when working at particularly removed settings where there is not many encounters with other officers or individuals familiar with the service.

      Pros

      Ability to move to different jobs and experience so many different experiences. Earn 2.5 days of annual leave per month and can carry over 60 days. can deploy to natural disasters within the nation and help out in your professional capacity (for instance: pharmacist, medical physician, etc.)

      Cons

      Oftentimes, some agencies that you work for will take advantage of your 24/7 status to deploy and use you because they don't have to pay you for overtime.

      Great mission in protecting the public's health.

      Cons

      Relative to other Services it lacks funding, training and education opportunities. Organizationally weak within the Department of Health and Human Services. US Surgeon Generals are political appointees and not career offices.
