Pros

- Great local management teams. - Great coworkers, extremely knowledgeable. - Sense of accomplishment and belief in the mission. - Assisting your local communities.

Cons

- Terrible upper management. Political instability. - Outdated computer information systems. - Work/life balance. To make up for the low pay government positions used to offer incentives like work from home a few days a week, alternative work schedules (just work your 40 hours a week, start and end time changes as you want), and job security. All of these are gone or on their way out. - Burnout. Entire teams have resigned, under the threat of being fired, or have been fired so the work of 20 people now rests on a single person. There is not enough staff. Literally half of this agency’s staff no longer exists.

Stability is there...

Pros

Fairly secure job, better than average benefits, lots of time off, competitive salary

Cons

Poor systems/processes for job responsibilities, typical government red tape (too many hands in the pie, hard to keep things moving in a timely manner), congressional budget mandates funding.....if there are difficulties passing a budget (which there are every year) possibility of a shutdown, or at minimum, very little funding to operate programs is received through the continuing resolution. This affects how much money we have available, which affects how many loans we can fund, which is a measurement on our ratings/goals.......

Pros

can't think of a single one. quit and find something else

Cons

Hired as a processor in customer service at the St. Louis location. worst decision of my life. initial job interview and info given about the job is very deceptive. Management is aware this job is terrible...very high turnover, low morale, and unprofessional work environment. every department is behind and you will deal with rude, angry customers most of the time. insurance department rarely makes payments on time, not sure how this is even legal... facility is also in a very seedy neighborhood. quit and never looked back...
