Pros
If you're lucky enough to work from the Chicago office, you get to leech off of Uber's beautiful, open floor plan office space with great free lunches.
Cons
Buyer beware: this is not Uber. If you’re looking for a true tech environment or a pathway into Uber, stay far away from Uber Freight. The company was once great under Uber’s umbrella, but after the split and merger with Transplace, it completely lost its identity and stopped prioritizing the employee experience. Since then, it’s been in constant decline - budget cuts, worsening benefits, multiple rounds of layoffs, the dismantling of DEI and engagement programs, and a leadership team that ignores employee feedback. Leadership and HR weaponize their “employee behaviors” framework to silence dissent - if you raise concerns, you’re told you’re not “Thriving in Change.” The hierarchy is suffocating, transparency is nonexistent, and the culture is filled with buzzwords used to deflect accountability. Micromanagement is rampant, as every role is under scrutiny in anticipation of the next layoff. Pay and bonus structures are poor compared to industry standards, and benefits continue to erode each year.
