Pros

Flexibility, most of the time due to them continually hiring even when they don't have enough work for the people they've already employed.

Cons

If you are on the spectrum and they are aware of this, prepare for your management team to treat you like a child....If you have concerns, be prepared for them to tell you they will get back to you and then ignore you hoping it'll just pass. In addition, highly abusive gaslighting is a norm anytime you actually want to work collaboratively on solving any issues you have.

Thank you for your feedback. As an organization that’s striving to create a workplace where everyone can thrive, we have failed you. Even a single team member feeling that they’re not being heard or taken seriously because of who they are is not OK, especially in a company where we have so many different identities. For people who are not familiar with Ultranauts, that means a company where we have autistic colleagues at all levels, including on the leadership team, where three quarters of us are neurodivergent, where we have more females than males, where a fifth of our managers are Black, and a third of us identify as LGBTQ+. In terms of working with outside partners, we do believe that sometimes it’s important to bring in external expertise, like our engagement with a neurodivergent-led non profit to conduct our psychological safety survey and host follow on discussions to identify opportunities for improvement. Although this year’s psychological safety survey showed that 90% of team members felt safe to openly identify as neurodivergent, and 90% of team members felt more safe at Ultranauts that at any prior workplace (4% felt safety at Ultranauts was average, and 6% felt less safe at Ultranauts than at a previous employer), 90% simply isn’t good enough. We want everyone to have a work environment where they feel safe to be who they are and experience a sense of accomplishment with their teams, and are actively seeking ways to help those who aren’t in that 90% feel comfortable enough to voice their concerns and to address those concerns as best we can while operating within the constraints that come with being a company. By sharing the results of the psychological surveys with all staff and the Board, we hope to create transparency and accountability to continuously improve. By inviting all staff to participate in co-creating solutions (in the case of psychological safety, the process will be led by an independent third party, and allow for anonymous and asynchronous participation), we hope to identify the most impactful actions to implement.

Best job I've had

Pros

Ultranauts is doing things right when it comes to evolving with the new millennium. From recognizing the value in having neurodiversity in their teams to valuing mental health as much as physical health, there's a lot to like here. All in all, it's a great place to work and it's definitely the best job I've had in my career. Recognizes value in neurodiverse teams Honest care and concern from upper leadership Receptive to feedback Transparent on everything from work finances to how they know they screwed up Psychological safety and mental health are as important as physical 100% remote Flexible work schedules Good time off allotments Working on more ways to help professional growth from within the company

Cons

Not a starter company, but still growing, and so there's associated pains to that: There's some disorganization at times Processes can be slow to change or be implemented New directions are sometimes communicated poorly (even though they are positive ones) I want to address this next point because it's a big one for people looking here: Some people feel overlooked or missed, or are put into positions they don't want to be in. I don't think the company does this intentionally. At all. But with some of the above issues, it creates opportunity for this to happen. They're working on improving, but it's not quite where it needs to be yet. I would still recommend this company 100 times over my previous places of employment, but I do understand there are people who have fallen into this category, and it does need to be fixed as best as it can be.

Wonderful place to work, as long as you don't live in an expensive area.

Pros

I gave it 4 stars, but it should really be more of a 4.5. Unfortunately, glassdoor does not allow that. The people are fantastic. It's a wonderful environment to work in, especially for neurodivergent folks. Everyone is treated like a real human, not just a tool to get the job done. The culture is fantastic and welcoming to everyone, and people genuinely care about about everyone else's well being, both physical and mental. Folks affected by natural disasters and such are afforded time off and financial assistance as well.

Cons

The salary is hard to get by on if you live in higher cost of living areas and don't have the means to move elsewhere, as it's not adjusted based on location. Due to rising costs of living, I've been financially forced to begin to explore other potential opportunities, despite not actually *wanting* to.
