Pros

Decent holiday parties Fun customers and fellow budtenders Forming good relationships with industry connections

Cons

They pay you the lowest possible state wage with no raises but they love to say price/policy/staffing changes are so they can afford to pay their employees competitively. Took away weekly cash tips and add them to paychecks every two weeks with very little notice, despite employee push back and concern. Started charging the budtender’s an “indiscriminate” amount from any tips given via debit purchases, won’t tell them what the amount of the fee charge is and claim they are allowed to change how much they take at any given time. Extremely unsafe - The state just had a record high of robberies in dispos and the owner of this shop said that “keeps him awake at night” to all the news outlets but they just removed regular security from the door at their largest location because they’re massively understaffed and won’t hire anyone new. Massive price and policy changes happen on a whim and floor staff is not told at all or at the last second, meaning budtenders are often at the mercy of upset customers. If you have any concerns or criticisms and dare speak up, you will be targeted, abused, shamed publicly and reprimanded. Extremely toxic work environment where favoritism and nepotism are your biggest bargaining chips and it’s never hidden that you get better treatment if you’re best friends with the right people. If you speak up about workplace harassment or sexual harassment, they will tell the person you’re reporting that you told on them. They expect you to check email and slack regularly throughout the day and will reprimand you for having not done so, even if you are not scheduled and offer no compensation for your time given off the clock. Double standard in which store managers who are paid salary and their job description is for them to be “on the clock” from open to close every business day, will refuse to communicate on the weekends because it’s “their day off”. You are essentially on call 24/7 and you will be texted and messaged and tagged on slack multiple times a day if someone calls out and you are treated poorly and given less hours if you are not willing to pick up extra shifts at a moments notice. They have an extremely high turnover rate but love to write up and fire people/threaten employees with termination for things like being critically ill or having a family member pass away. Extremely anti-union environment. Will get rid of filled positions and force those staff members to either take a position/location they were never interested in or incapable of taking just to avoid hiring new employees and properly staffing their stores.
