      Pros

      Work is helpful to the community and for a good cause. Continual updated training for job specifics. Flexibility. Possibility for advancement. Supportive supervisor who does not micromanage. Staff members are helpful and provide teamwork (as needed). Employees are paid a mileage stipend for use of their cars. Employees are paid a monthly cellphone stipend for use of cellphones. Offers benefits such as health insurance and 401k.

      Cons

      Initial job training is not very helpful, but you learn your job skills over time. Being on-call on a rotating schedule is inconvenient. Advancement is rare in some locations of this agency. Mileage stipend does not cover all wear and tear on car, and has not increased at all. Health insurance is paid for directly by employee and does not provide great coverage. 401k is offered but most employees can't afford it due to rate of pay, and only a tiny percentage is matched by agency. Staff are not being compensated at a rate to afford to live comfortably. It is hard to get a raise.

      Thank you for your comments. Feedback from current, former, and prospective employees help us to create a meaningful workplace culture and improve our services. Pay rates are based on set Medicaid reimbursement rates; however UMHS did give all employees bonuses in December of 2021. Universal MH/DD/SAS pays 75 percent of the premium for comprehensive health insurance for employees. We appreciate your feedback and recommendations.
