Pros

The main selling point for working here is that they clearly love education. For an edtech and admissions company, I was surprised to see the volume resources devoted to developing new content, understanding evidence, and experimenting with new teaching formats - even though not all of it is profitable.

Cons

This is glorified tutoring - not always an industry with lots of room for growth. They do however commission curricular development work from top mentors, so that looks great on a CV

Pros

Fulfilling Work – Helping high school students navigate the university application process and achieve their academic goals is incredibly rewarding. Seeing their success makes the job meaningful. Flexible Schedule – The role allows for a good amount of autonomy, making it easier to balance with other commitments. The sessions are scheduled depending on my availability and the students' availability. Supportive Team – Colleagues are generally passionate and collaborative, creating a positive working environment. We communicate well with each other and I can easily seek support from the other mentors. Great Experience for Future Careers – Mentoring helped me develop valuable skills such as: communication, organization, and problem-solving, time management and critical thinking.

Cons

Workload Variability – Some periods, especially application season, can be quite intense depending on the amount of students that I have at that moment. However, I am free to update my capacity level whenever, which is convenient. Type of students - Sometimes students have a difficult personality to work with, which can be challenging especially if parents also do not understand the role of the mentor and intervene multiple times in the application process. However, I personally was able to handle these issues through honest communication.
