Pros

MD takes the team out for lunches occasionally. Didn't feel pressured to work outside of work hours like other agencies.

Cons

From their social posts you would think Upperdog is a great environment to work in, but the reality is it's very clique-y. Unless you're friends with the senior management team you will find yourself generally excluded and looked at with disdain for not being "in" with them - to the point of unfair criticism and being left to sink without support and of course no opportunity to progress.

It’s a shame this wasn’t brought up during your employment at Upperdog as it would have been great to have resolved any concerns or worries together. Our employees have regular 1-1s with their manager and opportunities for progression are discussed – with many staff internally promoted since the company started. Of course there are limitations to this being a small business, but we are growing and will always look to promote from within in the first instance where we can. We have a big emphasis on working and supporting each other as a team and enjoy regular teambuilding days out arranged by the company. Whilst we appreciate your feedback and will seriously take it into consideration as we progress, perhaps this wasn’t the right fit for either of us; either way we wish you the best of luck in your career and please do get in touch with us directly should you want to discuss anything further.

Pros

The small team of 13 means you can make a real impact and be involved in top level decisions gaining a wide range of skills. Working with a variety of different clients makes every day different. The clients are also really lovely to work with which makes the work so much more rewarding. Working late/ over hours is not the norm which is rare for a digital agency, most days everyone will leave on time. Flexi-hours allows you to work around your personal life. Central Bournemouth location surrounded by coffee shops and restaurants great for meetings and monthly team lunches.

Cons

Small team does mean there is more responsibility to manage but any issues flagged are well supported.

Pros

Good holiday allowance and work from home culture if that’s something you value. A good range of clients and a well established agency with long term client relationships

Cons

It has taken me a long time to reflect on my experience at this company before feeling comfortable writing this review. During my time there, I found the level of administrative work and micromanagement to be excessive, which made it difficult to work effectively and confidently. The culture also felt quite cliquey at times, with communication often being indirect rather than clear and constructive. Relationships with management appeared to have a significant influence on employees’ experiences, and this could change very quickly. Staff turnover was notably high, with seven employees leaving within a six-month period while I was there. Ultimately, I made the decision to leave without another role secured, as the experience had a significant impact on my stress levels and professional confidence, despite having worked in marketing for over 10 years.
