Pros
I honestly can’t think of a single one. I would say there are a select few kind people, but almost all of them have left because of the toxic culture. If you can seek out the normal people that are left, you will likely bond over your mutual job search and hatred of the ludicrous company you work for.
Cons
Just to name a few... 1) The pay. It is insanely below average. Think of what a low salary would be for the position beneath yours at any other agency, and that’s what you’re looking at. But management will look at company-wide complaints and hold a meeting to literally say “you’re wrong, there’s no problem here” 2) Poor management. People complain about toxic culture to get blank stares in return. People ask for help on work to get blank stares in return. People go to management to report inappropriate behavior only to get their own hand slapped. If you’re hoping for leadership, guidance, and anyone to be helping you out at all, you won’t find that here. 3) The toxic culture. A large amount of people treat this company like it’s a high school. Including senior leadership, gossip and making fun of people is rampant. Treating people as lesser because of there level is common. There’s cliques. People get together after work and play a game to “rate the 5 worst people you work with” (yes, this really happened) 4) Account has final creative say, every time. They will be in all meetings, have useless critiques that don’t relate to client wants or needs at all, and if you don’t make these changes without question, they complain to upper management to have you removed from projects. 5) Lack of care. All of this has been going on for years. Whole teams will quit at a time, often without a new job lined up, just to get out of this place. Leading up to people leaving in bulk, people always complain to management, who does nothing and makes you feel like you’re the crazy one. 6) Work life balance. You are expected to work late often on requests from the account team that, once again, have nothing to do with what the client wants. You will go rounds and rounds because non-creatives will say they don’t like a color “but they don’t know why” or make you try 5 additional layouts “just to see” so they can be the judge. And because of this, you can never leave. Especially for people under senior level, because they don’t get laptops and are required to stay.
