Just the illusion of working from home, they hardly have any sessions.

I had to leave my day job due to illness, and searched for one that I can work from home. I read online reviews before I zeroed in on VIPKID. It was the worst decision I ever made, I fell for the nice sounding reviews about VIPKID. There is hardly any truth in those. I was concerned about getting guidance in the beginning at least ,as this was my first online teaching experience. NO ONE provided me any help, at the time of hiring I had informed them about my illness and the least I expected was some professional conduct. They made false promises with a straight face

We offer applicants, newbies, and experienced VIPKID teachers a very comprehensive set of FAQs, How-to Guides, and other useful documentation to give them a path towards success. In addition to the information we provided at various stages of your VIPKID journey, we also give teachers the opportunity to take tailor-made workshops in order to know more about the platform, teaching techniques, booking procedure, payment, and much more. We often recommend teachers to check the platform on a daily basis to keep on top of their availability and booking status/activity, and to be aware of the short notice feature and how to use it. While we have informed teachers in advance that peak times are the most widely used slots for Chinese students to take classes because of the time difference and their availability after school, the weekends are not the only days of the week that teachers can get booked for lessons. Many teachers use The Hutong as a way to find out more information and share or receive useful tips and suggestions from others in the teaching community. Do not work at VIPKID. This people running the company only think about themselves. Teachers are not given due respect and any issues faced by them are hardly taken seriously. I have faced heavy penalties without ever being given a fair hearing. They do not treat cancellations or no-shows on a case by case basis, and are very rigid and stubborn in their reasoning, hardly ever considering situations for cancellations. I was required to get 2 internet lines so it could cater to their business but I don’t get paid enough to pay even 1 month's internet connection for 1 line! They earn out of your salary! They earn money from students and take the teacher's money as well.

Our guidelines on cancellations, which you can check out on our Support Center in the Teacher Portal, were updated to take into consideration every teacher’s case. We have expanded the original definition of cancellations into 3 categories (Regular, Medium, and Soft) so as to accommodate everyone’s needs. While it may seem harsh, VIPKID believes in the importance of maintaining a maximum of 6 cancellations per contract to ensure that the students who are subscribed to our platform get the best possible learning experience. Cons

Company does not care about teachers. Bookings are completely random. Only a few reliable regulars. Not teaching. Edutainment. I have been punished for not being a clown. Cut our pay and tried to justify it as a good thing for us... Yeah right.
