Pros

The people here are what make VRChat truly special — diverse, humble, passionate, and deeply motivated by the mission of creating a space where millions can be themselves and connect with others in an immersive world. Even the hiring process reflects that culture; some interviews happen inside VRChat itself, which is genuinely one-of-a-kind and something you won't find anywhere else. The team is small but mighty, and you feel that in the best way possible. The CEO is kind, exceptionally sharp, AI-forward, and genuinely open to hearing ideas from anyone on the team. There's a real sense that your voice matters and that you can make a meaningful impact, thanks to the autonomy you're given within your role. I'd recommend VRChat without hesitation to anyone who wants to help build something that truly changes how people experience and connect with the world.

Cons

Being fully remote is honestly a huge perk and something many companies still struggle to do well, but the one thing I'd love to see more of is in-person team events. When you work alongside people this talented and passionate, you naturally want more opportunities to connect and celebrate together in real life too!

Pros

If you love VR, this is the place to be. Some of the brightest creatives and engineers in VR work here, and they deeply care about their users, and the future of VR generally. The community in VRChat continues to astound us with their creativity, every day. Coworkers are highly creative, intelligent, witty, and many form strong attachments to each other.

Cons

VRChat has always struggled with management and strategy. Now there is new senior management, brought in from other companies, and unfamiliar with VRChat and its unique culture. So far, the new SLT's main accomplishment has been a massive layoff. (In fairness VRChat is not alone in having to cut back.) Pay is well below what you can get in software in general, but probably average for the games industry. Employee careers have not been a priority for leadership. They say they are going to change that.
