Pros

The culture and people are the best thing about the company, while I was there I genuinely liked most everyone I worked with and coworkers tend to support each other pretty well.

Cons

The expectations on Account Managers are ridiculous. Too many accounts and too many hats to wear within the role. The quality of the accounts suffer and there seemed to be no end to new roles and expectations being added to your workload. Incredibly stressful if you care about quality and your clients' perceptions. Training is nonexistent. I was hired with no experience, did a few "ride-alongs" with other account managers then was handed a set of truck keys and a list of 26 accounts and told "have at it." My branch manager was nonexistent as a resource or mentor.

Pros

Working with some of the brightest young talent available! The office and field staff are comprised of young and old talent. The company is over 22,000 employees strong with a well known name however, it will be changed soon. Some Fridays are relaxed depending on managements mood that day. Hourly employees start times are flexible.

Cons

Management posts fake reviews on glassdoor Training is all they can provide inconsistent Management (from day to day it is completely different) Power struggles in middle management No written SOP No accountability Progression into management requires you to have a defunct moral compass. Management does not say what they do or do what they say. The current administration in the Whitehouse and this place have much in common. Sometimes management is hard to reach as they come in late and leave early. (upper and middle management) They say they are like a family. I don't know about everyones family but mine is not this dysfunctional. No benefits for 6 months No Vacation for 6 months No Sick for 6 months Will not honor any agreements made during the hiring process. If it is not in writing it never happened. KKR will suck every penny out of this company and have little or no concern with the employee or customer in mind. KKR is to busy getting sued over colluding. This is not the company you want to work for. KKR is fraudulent just look at what they did to Dollar General.

This company has lost its way. Hopefully the acquisition flushes things out.

Pros

The projects that we build can be very satisfying.

Cons

There is a lack of leadership at many of the VCLD branches. Many of the branch managers are petty career climbers whose first, second, and third concerns are "managing up." They talk about good concepts like "training" and "production" without any idea of how to convert those ideas into reality. There is little actual business or horticultural expertise at many of these positions, and the results reflect that. One other very curious note about this company is that it was built and survives almost entirely on Latino labor, but anything close to a representative number of Latinos in upper management cannot be found. The company's track record promoting women and treating them with respect is equally poor. It seems like the only way to get promoted is to look and sound like the person one step up the ladder from you. This is how a company stagnates.
