Pros

-Great if you like to visit a lot of place in Canada. -Great if you love climbing as you will be climbing different types of towers. -The people are great, young, and ambitious. -They will train you and make sure you are ready to start climbing. -It’s hourly position and they offer overtime pay. -Career progression is clear and well communicated. -Managers are young and do monthly meetings to discuss and evaluate employee performance on a set of metrics.

Cons

-Since it is hourly position, during winter you are not guaranteed to work 40hrs per week.(but in May to around November the company has a lot of work so you will probably work overtime, which will increase your earnings that might offset the low hours worked during winter. So plan ahead) -During the months of May to October you will spend 80% of your time in the field. Also, in most of the trips you will be working on avg 10 hrs/day and in some case you will be asked to work in weekend or work for 2 weeks straight with overtime of course. -If you are interested in doing engineering duties I do not think this is a good fit specially if you are aiming for structural engineering career. As most of the tasks can be done by technicians. -In order to move to a design engineer you will have to spend at least three years in the field. -Very niche industry.
