Meaningful work but limited advancement opportunities and outdated culture
Pros
The company is true to their values in that they are serious about serving the health of the communities. It feels good to do good work.
Cons
VarietyCare was a small Company until recently (last six years or so) and they’re still operating like there are only 70 employees instead of over 700. There is no ladder to climb there are no levels for job roles or functions. There is zero opportunity for advancement. The other issue is the most major: employees here have either been at the company for five years or less or twenty or more. The old-timers spent their careers seemingly doing the bare minimum on outdated systems and have no modern day skills. Not in management not in the EHR not in professionalism. Nothing. So anything “new” to them (but commonplace for literally every single modern day workplace) is taken as a direct threat to their individual livelihoods. They don’t know what they don’t know and worse they’re not interested in finding out. This is not a place that is serious about being a “grown up job”
