Pros

- I worked with some of the brightest and most creative folks I've ever met (especially on the Creative team). - Work-life balance is manageable for the first few years... until you're promoted to the point where you no longer qualify for overtime pay (aka Account Executive). - A solid place for an internship: you will get a lot of experience and develop a wide-ranging skill set because they genuinely need the help.

Cons

- Leadership loves to pat themselves on the back for being a women-owned and a female majority company, but the DEI stops there. All of their internal DEI committees (which were regularly neglected by leadership and left to flounder with minimal to no funding for employee training) have been gutted since I left. - No respect for employee mental wellbeing. My final straw was having to beg one of my managers to not give me another account when I was already struggling with overwhelm, she "talked to leadership" about it, and she came back to me a few weeks later telling me I would have to suck it up. I had a vicious panic attack in the office bathroom before deciding to quit the next day. - Many past and present employees confided in me to share they also felt anxious, burnt out, stressed, scared, overworked, and undersupported. If you're brave enough to speak to a manger about your concerns, you either get brushed off with a sympathetic smile (if you're lucky) or get placed on a PIP because, actually, you need to be doing more, not less. - As mentioned above, your work-life balance goes out the window as soon as you are exempt from overtime pay. I was told by a manager that regularly surpassing 43 hours a week--which would put you in overtime otherwise--is acceptable and outright expected of you. There would be weeks I would log multiple 9-10+ hour days, ESPECIALLY before/after I dare to take PTO. No one ever checked on me. None of my managers asked if I was drowning (I was). This was considered the norm. I could go on and on. In fact, I have--I sent the owners of Vault a letter detailing the concerns I have the day I left. Neither of them ever reached out to me. I've heard from friends still there that things are getting worse, not better, since I left.

Pros

If you're looking for a local PA internship or just starting your career in PR, Vault is a great place to get your foot in the door and get some real-world experience under your belt. Good career opportunities to move up as well, but once people are in the middle of their career, people tend to move on. All the most senior managers and VPs have been at the company a while. You'll meet a lot of great coworkers here. Everyone you work with is nice and knowledgeable. Lots of in-person events and opportunities for face-to-face work and socialization. Company has grown a lot in 2021 and will probably continue to grow.

Cons

Some employees aren't happy with policies, feel overworked, or are unhappy about the job responsibilities that get added to their plate that they didn't agree to/sign up for when they applied. There is no standard management structure in the company and it causes confusion and lack of mentorship/rapport with management. The company needs a lot of help with modernization and technology. A lot of paperwork and big wait times involved in their multi-step recruitment process. No salary transparency and nothing is listed in job descriptions when you apply.

Thanks for sharing this review, and for your kudos on our success with employee retention and entry-level employees. We actually have a very formal management structure by client/account, but agree that the fact that there isn't a "standard structure" usually isn't a good fit for people who want traditional bureaucracy. We have also made modernization of technology a massive priority for 2022-23 and agree that our recruitment process, which always nets us amazing candidates, could be more efficient with technology. We'd disagree with you on salary transparency and job descriptions. All job descriptions are provided to candidates, and we have salary bands that we publish for all employees to reflect our core values as an organization.
