Pros

- free food - fun budget (will be used to drink your stress away)

Cons

- Massively unrealistic quotas, very few people hit and they will lie throughout the interview process about this. Will quote some people who are hitting who are on ramp target who just inheritied deals for people who have already fled this sinking ship - Success based on territory - Massive turnover in Sydney, 7 in the last 2 weeks which is around 30% of AE's leaving - Treated like a BDR - forced call blitzes for around 6 hours a week - Horrible leadership style, it's rare you come into the office and you don't find someone crying. QBR's and weekly forecast meetings are treated as a forum to berate and belittle staff whilst leadership take no accountability for the terrible strategy in ANZ which they have copy/pasted from the US. - Micromanaged daily with no room use your own sales acument. You have to literally learn a script for your demo's in your first two weeks. Yo uare regularly tested on this.

Pros

Great group of people to work with, benefits are there, culture is slowly building and product is great. You have the freedom to sale in your own way but this can also be a negative. No sales training or support if you are into that.

Cons

The benefits might seem alright, but they're completely overshadowed by the abysmal management, starting right from the top. Prepare yourself for a psychological rollercoaster, as the management's bullying tactics would require a psychiatrist to address the resulting trauma. While meeting ramping targets appears plausible, achieving full quota is nothing more than a deceptive illusion unless you're working like a 7/11 service station (7 days a week & 11 hours a day). The person at the helm lacks any semblance of leadership skills, offering zero respect to colleagues, providing zilch support or guidance, and opting for insults over encouragement when the team inevitably falls short (which, let's face it, is a whopping 90% of the time). As if that weren't enough, the same person can't even recall my name correctly on multiple occasions, adding a touch of insult to the injury. Meanwhile, the middle managers wield about as much power and influence in the business as a potted plants. Career progression is a distant dream here, and this joint is nothing more than a revolving door (average tenure is 7 months). It's genuinely pitiful for the middle managers - a bunch of brilliant minds constantly squashed by the suffocating chain of command.

Pros

You get to work with decent-sized accounts. That is the only pro. There is nothing more to this company.

Cons

Allow me to elucidate the reality of the situation. Recruiters, burdened with formidable hiring quotas, will likely bombard you with one or more of the following disingenuous proclamations. (We hear them lying on the phone every single day). As a fellow sales professional, I extend my utmost respect and urge you to recognize the following as utter fallacies. Proceed to discern which of these falsehoods were uttered to you, and read along for what these crappy lines actually mean. 1. You can earn life-altering sums. XYZ representative amassed an astronomical $3774674637478343498 in commissions, and you can too. - Indeed, your life will transform, but decidedly for the worse. 13% of the global workforce hits their target - the ones given the pot of luck. 1 / 30 reps hit their fully ramped quota in FY'24 in APAC. 2. We are in 'hyper-growth mode'. We are going public soon and for context, our nearest competitor is trading at $xyz. - While we won't offer you the base salary commensurate with the relentless 'call blitzes' and '500 emails a week' you'll be subjected to, we will bestow upon you equity. Verkada is poised to go public, . You will have the opportunity to helm this role. You'll be the CEO. This equity narrative has been perpetuated for the past four-five years. Your equity will vest over four years, and 99% of the workforce has a tenure of less than one year. Stupidity. 3. We want you to be successful. - CRAZY LIE!!! . They merely entice you into the role of an SDR or BDR, where your primary function is to amplify their message, significantly reducing their cost of sales. They couldn't care less about your success. "We just want you to make money" translates to making 1000 calls, running demos, and when you fail to meet targets, they'll discard you to hire another naïve salesperson to perpetuate the cycle. 4. Our partners ADORE our technology and revel in selling it. You will secure substantial revenue from partners. This statement is patently false. I vehemently implore you to contact IT resellers in Australia and solicit their opinions on Verkada. If 2 out of 10 resellers have: a). Heard of Verkada b). 'Adore' selling it to their clientele Accept the position. Otherwise, don't squander your time. You cannot thrive at Verkada without partners, and partners in Australia DESPISE Verkada. Colleagues, there is genuinely NOTHING commendable about working at Verkada, save for the $20 lunches and travel allowance, mere enticements to lure you into accepting the job and committing to a five-day workweek. The frontline managers and 'leadership' are subpar salespeople, having peddled transactional technology their entire careers. Consequently, you will glean absolutely NOTHING of value here. I trust this insight proves beneficial.
