Pros

Hardworking and talented engineering team has developed a great product to improve security. Many people are willing to collaborate and assist to help achieve company goals. If you're friend of the CEO you're likely to be treated better than those not in his circle.

Cons

Leadership and consistent directions. The CEO changes his mind often daily about the direction of specific businesses organization. This includes firing people before Christmas without any warnings, assigning too many roles to one person(setting them up for failure), and bringing in friends to run critical executive positions. Employee churn. Something every company contends with however at Verodin it's far too often and effects not only the workflow of others(they have to take on the work left behind) it effects the moral of the team. Lack of communication from executive team. The executive team does not regularly meet unless drinking is involved. Strategy officer is not invited to many planning and strategic meeting and is instead used as a prop to show to government customers. One notorious fact is that the CRO will not answer an email unless the CEO is cc'd. This is unacceptable and has caused confusion and strain within the organization. No on ramp product. Verodin is an extremely expensive product which as a result isolates a large portion of the market. When competitors are doing the same thing for cheaper it forces Verodin to discount heavily. No training for customer facing teams. Verodin platform does not sell itself. It touches many areas of the security and network stack that sales have a difficulty selling. Rather than develop a enterprise training team to get smart folks up to speed we sideline them or fire them. No ability to scale. The CEO and COO have no intention of going IPO. They want to point the ship in the correct direction and then jump off and sell when the moment is right. This will leave talented engineers under the SAIC, HP, DELL of the world while the CEO and his friends get rich.

Pros

1) Relatively flat organization 2) Perks of a start up including a cool workspace (if you aren't remote), with a well stocked kitchen and company provided meals fairly often 3) It is a smaller organization so it is cool to be able to watch it grow/develop

Cons

Company culture is pretty bad insofar as people accepting responsibility for mistakes and trying to fix them. For such a small organization, there is a tremendous amount of finger pointing. At least one VP lacks the self-awareness, humility and managerial skills to lead. How that guy got hired continues to be a mystery to me.

Pros

1. The software Verodin has created is really needed in cyber security today, and the development staff really work hard to make it useful. Verodin really does have an exceptional product that its bringing to market, and it was exciting to be part of making that. 2. The company's solution has great growth potential so the investment options staff get might be worth a lot someday. 3. The non-executive staff, especially developers, really do put in long hours and want the company to succeed. 4. Overall compensation isn't too bad for a startup.

Cons

1. Nobody in the company has ever been promoted in its three-year history and annual turnover is at least 50%. Management always brings in buddies from past companies when a senior slot opens, and even some of them end up fired. 2. Verodin's customer support is complained about by customers frequently, so its likely a negative reputation will start circulating and impacting growth. 3. Anyone who raises a concern or who management doesn't like gets singled out as a troublemaker and then fired without notice. 4. Competitors are starting to beat Verodin on deals.
