Pros

Great flex working policy, lovely London office, decent salary

Cons

When I was considering joining VA, it was the focus on staff wellbeing that really attracted me. I am now leaving the charity just over a year later having experienced the worst mental health of my life. This is a direct consequence of the pervasive culture of bullying and racism within the charity, where the very worst behaviours are perpetuated and enabled by senior staff. In its current state, I do not consider this a safe place to work.

Pros

They have a nice selection of drinks in the canteen, and some nice flower arrangements in the office's.

Cons

Having recently started at Versus Arthritis, I already realise this was a bad move. I seem to be surrounded by a number of unhappy people in Chesterfield, with quite a few planning their exit. People don't seem to confident with what they are doing, and say they have not been given the correct training to turn around their workload/use the systems they are required to use. It doesn't seem like anyone really respects the manager, who is often condescending to their staff. Some people are blaming the transition from two charities merging into one, but the merger was 18 months ago, so surely the company should be more stable than it is by now ? I really don't see things improving in the next 6-12 months and neither do many others. I've heard about the large number of people that have left the company in the last 6 months or so, and there must be a reason for this. I'm just not going to risk it, and am looking to move on as soon as possible and put this down to experience.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. There has been a lot of work carried out over the last six months following the merger of the charities and we have received a lot of positive feedback about this. I am saddened that you did not have a positive experience - if you are still with the Charity I would be happy to have a conversation with you regarding your concerns. Thank you The People Team
