Big scope of ownership and decision making, a lot projects to choose from (both interesting and innovative, as well as tedious and monotonic). Being proactive and detailed orientated is highly appreciated.
Cons
Frequently lack of direction and organisation structure. Often one have to figure out internal organisation (e.g. who is in charge of project A today).
