Pros

Conceptually a great step forward using technology that is mostly outdated. Possibilities are there, but the proper people to make it happen are not.

Cons

Upper management essentially were unsuccessful at another radiation therapy company. They have now been brought aboard at Viewray, and are applying the same systemic problematic strategies. 1. The R & D, QA/RA and FSE teams are very strong, and essentially are what keep Viewray going. Other departments (i.e. NPI, MFG and OPS) demonstrate limited medical device experience and/or relevant technology knowledge. 2. All decisions are reactionary in nature and implemented through brute force and/or intimidation. 3. Current systems in used require full-time on-site FSE teams.

Pros

The technology and people behind it are truly amazing. Its a rapidly growing business which, if managed correctly has the opportunity to be revolutionary in the industry. The company is well positioned against some of the giants all of which is exciting to be a part of if you have an appetite for some risk

Cons

The management team that was brought in from another similar business (which failed) did a phenomenal job at prematurely wiping out many of the founding team members. They seem to have little patience for building up their people and teams. A flat structure was established for control, but the extreme gap in responsibilities between the bottom and top makes communication and expectation setting a point of conflict.

Pros

There's not alot of pros but free snacks. Viewray had a first round layoff in May and its the first time I was ever glad I was one of them. Possibly a second round is coming. I was glad to be laid off otherwise I wouldnt have found this new job i have now

Cons

1. Management is horrible, no schedule, no plans, your pretty much on your own. If you raise a question you would be potentially ignored 2. Theres no such thing as training. You have to beg the current employees who feels entitled to share information and when they do share, you cant ask questions, this goes the same way for management. 3. Forget about growth, managers only think of themselves. They self promote themselves and take credit for all the hard work of team members. 4. Moral is low, theres no such thing as team players, you constantly have to lookout on what your manager will do and you don't have a say to anything. Your a slave and owned by the company, average work hour per day is 10hours minimum. There were countless times when i had to work 16hours. One day i had to ask myself why am I working here, for what? Im just wasting my precious time and can be productive somewhere else. 4. no 401k, no raises, no thank yous for hard work, no promotions, dead end job and you're sol.
