Pros

I can’t say there were any for me. Perhaps the electronic health record, Athena, if you like that one - I personally did not.

Cons

Made false promises to me in order to entice me to leave my job, then quickly rescinded when I got in the door. They do this to many providers and will hire ANYONE. On some levels, absolutely no physician autonomy or ability to influence clinic operations despite promises of physician run practice, forcing me to do annual wellness visits for patients I have never met in 20 mins meanwhile no guardrails against colleagues who might see your patients and give them terrible advice/care or worse still, commit unethical acts/malpracrice. They only care about profits and customer service in so far as it affects their ratings, their true north is about churning patients to make profits. Their employees and their patients are as important to them as any retail goods. Many times medical assistants and administrators questioned my clinical judgement and compromised my reputation in the name of “customer service” (I saved their life in this case!). This is not a safe working environment (no knowledge of red flags by staff, no bleach wipes for c diff for months despite asking my PA “medical director” ha!!) nor a fully functioning clinic that is either safe for patient care or compliant with OSHA regulations or a practicing physician who doesn’t want to open themselves to a lawsuit. They changed bonus structures in order to make them unattainable and also policies at a whim. There is no real pharmacy integration as they claim, the staff is untrained and they are typically the ones fielding the calls and making refills and I was too scared to continue to practice there. They violate EEOC rules but filing a complaint means I can’t remain anonymous and so they get away with it. They paid male MA with years less experience than his female counterparts $1.50 more per hour. They also lied to me and told me staff was making a living wage - stated average MA wage was $26. In reality only lead MAs made $25-26 max.

Pros

Benefits and pay were the only good things

Cons

Other providers had some say over their schedule but generally, anything that walked in the door was to be seen no matter the reason. I was even told "find something to bill for, there's always something" by operations. Um FRAUD! I was screamed at and threatened by the head of operations, patients even heard it. Provider manager is never in important meetings and if you're ever "written up", it will not be written because you won't even be aware!! In writing, I was told my PTO would be used for a weekend there was not enough staff for even though the hours were permanently changed to weekends closed. When I questioned HR about it I was told "Operations can do whatever they want". I'm waiting for this company to be sued for false billing practices too. There was so much potential here but they put the wrong people in leadership and let it go down like a wildfire. One area has a practice manager with 8 providers and multiple MAs that have complained, the highest turnover, and ZERO core staff at one office for 6+ months but they find her ways acceptable.

Pros

Good base salary to start

Cons

Poor management, run mostly by medical assistants who moved up in the system via nepotism. They think they can do managed care but do not have tools in place to properly care for patients.
