Pros

There are no redeeming qualities.

Cons

Upper management is sneaky and conniving. Greed and power tripping are not attractive qualities. Little people can be bullies too. Plagiarism doesn't bother them. Editor has NO background in journalism so no grasp of ethics or professional conduct. Circulation claims are a joke.

This place is horrendous

Pros

Decent pay and work/life balance

Cons

This place is the absolute worst place you will ever work. The owner/publisher has no idea how to manage, and yet micromanages every single employee that he has. Not only is the publisher rude, but he's also condescending and clueless. The morale of the company is at an all-time low. There are also no benefits, absolutely no room for advancement, and no employee has been given a raise in fifteen years of operation. Avoid this place like the plague.

Pros

Beautiful, high quality publication. Supportive sales manager who wants nothing but the best for her team even if that means not being with Virginia Living.

Cons

Toxic sales environment Narcissistic owner of company No room for growth Owner/publisher doesn’t believe in raises No benefits Political viewpoints shoved down the throats of staff by owner/publisher Only goal of owner/publisher is to grow his own social circle (little does he know, half the city can’t stand him) No opportunity to share ideas or thoughts Call center style sales floor while constantly being micromanaged
