The over-all environment is friendly. Typically in companies such as Vision Research, the lack of real top down strength and concern for people, the people make the bet of it and band together and focus on what they have control over, the direct relationships that make your day enjoyable.
Cons
The value of the employee and the benefits program is not competitive and the human resource team up thru corporate will openly admit that they do not have to be concerned with employees leaving the company in a struggling market.
