Not what it seems

Pros

There are various social events such as once a month birthday lunches and a chance to get together for a tea break on Thursday afternoons for about 20 minutes. There is also a free breakfast Monday mornings.

Cons

The job titles and descriptions can be misleading, the job that was described to me in the interview is much different than what I actually did once employed. 99% of my job was making cold calls which they ensure you won't last long as you'll move swiftly up the corporate ladder, this proves to be untrue as when you are promoted to the next job you are basically still on the phone all day. They were inflexible when it came to employees taking time off or wanting to slightly modify their schedule. I also found their business practices dishonest and felt I wasn't able to be open with potential clients. Very low pay.

Lulled into a False Sense of Security

Pros

The biggest pro by far is that lasting friendships tend to be made in environments where there is a common struggle.

Cons

If you're taking the time to read these reviews, and you're considering working at this company, please acknowledge the commonalities repeatedly mentioned. Disgruntled former employees or not, there is substance and truth in the claims. I write this for the sole purpose of forewarning those who read the positive publicity across the web, and believe there is no more to the story. In this company no amount of intelligence, effort, compassion, drive, or even positive reinforcement will guarantee that you will succeed. Consider your choices wisely, and hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

Thanks for your feedback. It's unfortunate that you feel so negatively towards the company. Every company has challenges, but these are balanced by amazing employees, supportive managers, and exciting growth and change. Banding together with friends to get through a common struggle is important, but so is celebrating the wins and recognizing the opportunities your workplace provides you with, like professional development, opportunities for growth, and rewarding incentives. We hope that you find a role that is both challenging and fulfilling.

Pros

There were foosball tables and beanbag chairs. The team atmosphere was exciting at first and it was like one big group of friends.

Cons

Voices.com hires and fires a lot of people on a regular basis. I didn't bother to get to know people's name after a while. Everyone they hire is typically under 30 because their pay scale is low. You'll notice that Voices is always hiring because it's telesales and if you don't hit your quota 3 months in a row you get in trouble. Voices.com also changed the name titles of their employees on a regular basis. First your a Business Development Manager, then a Commercial Account Manager, then a European Account Manager, but really you had the same telesales job the entire time with minor changes to your role. It seems like Voices.com is always restructuring and use their employees as test models. They like to hire entry-level people so firing them isn't a big deal. I feel like the only person who has job security is the one Human Resources Manager they have there because they have a ton of hiring and firing to do. When they called me in for an interview, it was a group of about 30 other people they called in as well. I realized then that I was just a number because they couldn't even remember what position I applied for, they just stuck me where they wanted in their organization. In the interview I had 2 minutes with 5 different people. One person asked me what kind of sports I like to play. So 2 out of the 10 minutes of my interview was about sports. I didn't have an opportunity to ask them a single question about their organization and expressed that to them when they sent me a job offer. The Management there is really inexperienced and not professional. It's pretty much anyone who's survived there long enough becomes a Manager with no proper managerial training and I found that a lot of them picked favourites because they weren't actual Managers, they were just the "Senior kids in High School" who have been there longer than you. I would be very leery on applying to this job, but if you are a recent grad living in your parents basement and want an entry level job I would say go for it if you have nothing else on the go. Do not leave a good job to work at Voices.com

Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback for us. Part of the excitement of working for a growing company is being part of changes and new initiatives! We do understand that this pace may not be for everyone, though, and therefore always appreciate hearing what works and what may not for a variety of personalities. Using this information, we do our very best to prepare our employees for change - in fact, it's something that comes up in a candidate's interview with our CEO. Our atmosphere and supportive team culture definitely make it easier to get over any potential bumps in the road as the company grows. As well, because we pride ourselves on being a company where employees can advance themselves personally and professionally, a lot of thought and care is put into any and all organizational changes. If there are ever any questions or concerns, we always invite you to bring them up! We want the best for every employee, and therefore welcome hearing from everyone on the team. We wish you the best in all of your future endeavors. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts with us.
