Pros

Good pay (slightly higher than UBS or Credit Suisse). Nice location. Decent canteen.

Cons

The code base if terrible, they are attempting to improve it now but there is lots of awful code to be replaced before anything decent can emerge and that means most development work involves maintaining the mess. There is a genuine lack of belief in standard software processes. Mangement believe software developers should do all jobs related to software including test, requirements gathering and support (1st, 2nd and 3rd level). The lack of requirements means business will give a one-line description and the developer will have to waste time asking questions and waiting for responses that generally lack detail and it will only be reviewed when it is released to UAT or sometimes production, this has, inevitably, lead to a terrible code base with hacks built on hacks. The lack of testing means bugs are often only found in production, and it is risky to try and improve the software since the lack of regression testing means it is easy to cause bugs in production. The lack of support means all issues, no matter how trivial, have to be dealt with by senior developers so it is hard to concentrate.

Pros

- nice environment - nice people - medium level of pressure - good work/life balance - working from home up to 40% - flat hierarchy

Cons

- low pace - limited opportunities to grow and develop - high amount of requirements for the job posting, and unfortunately not all is used in the real life (overqualified staff at the mid level) - gap of ~30-40 years old stuff due to the missing opportunities - interesting projects and higher responsibilities are kept at a higher management level - lower management levels cover rather admin work (covered by assistants/juniors in other companies)

Pros

Free cantine, pension fund, location

Cons

The good reviews here are mostly posted by HR in response to honest reviews from former employees. The truth is that the AM is riddled with an unhealthy culture that not only tolerates but rewards bullying and toxic behavior. HR looks on and covers for the employees in question, with a against rather than with. Due to the lack of strategy or constant change of thrust, people are sitting out their time with useless work. The motivation of the people is zero and if suggestions are made, they are immediately destroyed by the upper management levels. The focus here is on the bonus and not on the customer. The hope remains that the new management will get a grip on these problems. However, in order to do so, MANY lazy and unhealthy employees in middle management must be sorted out.
