There's dysfunction in the water

Pros

Great benefits, generous vacation and 401k match, flexible schedules, wonderful co-workers who really care about what they do, opportunities to learn, great overall mission

Cons

Lots of type A members who have completely taken over, lack of leadership at the top, little outside experience in executive team so it's like an echo chamber where outside perspectives are greatly needed but not welcome, board is micromanaging, overly complex procedures, low morale, endless meetings for no purpose, imbalanced workload in some departments, inconsistency/unfairness regarding which staff have to obey the rules, inability for most staff to make decisions or get anything done due to layers of red tape

Disfunctional

Pros

Great people to work with, most of them. Flex- Friday.

Cons

No growth potential, upper level staff treats lower staff terrible. Managers need training on how to speak to their co- workers, some staff are extremely unprofessional and I’m not sure why they still have a job there. Performance review of staff is joke, people told they are doing a great job until it’s time for your raise. Sent a document out to all staff showing where you fall with in the organization as it relates to performance. The worst thing you could do for staff morale.

WEF is a good place to work

Pros

Good benefits (paid professional development, tuition reimbursement, health, dental, vision, generous retirement plan, flex schedules; etc), Exec. Director who seems to really care about employees, nice colleagues overall (with the exception of a few bad apples), nice staff events for everyone

Cons

It feels like cliques dominate among some groups of long time employees. It is difficult for new employees to feel welcome because of that. Also, like most organizations there are a few known office gossips who stir up rumor mills or feed ideas that "everyone" is disgruntled (that's actually not true). Some employees who have been at the organization for years, do just enough to slide by, no more, no less (this isn't all long time employees, and not the majority, but there are a few and it is frustrating to others who work hard).
