Do Not Work Here If Management Does Not Get Replaced

Pros

You have dental and vision benefits. The best day of work is when is clocking out... LITERALLY.

Cons

Because of management the workplace was not professional and always on edge. Almost every day when I pulled up to work, I prayed to God if I can make it one more day. The News Directors feed off of negative energy. There were a lot of favoritism, petty and non useful feedback, and (in my opinion) mental/emotional abuse. The news directors were extremely quick to blame and say negative things to an employee instead of listening to the feedback given to them (or just simply listen) and proceeding with a positive solution. If you ever expressed your concerns on their behavior or actions, they would make sure to make your day/week harder than what it really was. This was the most dramatic, difficult and unprofessional work environment I've ever worked at. Before I was hired, I heard a lot of former interns and employees have the same problems, but finished and move on to the next job. I thought it couldn't be that bad, but boy did I have a hell of an awakening. You had former employees pay to get out their contracts, just to recover from the torment that management provided. The current News Director had these same issues at his last station in California when he was Assistant News Director. The Assistant ND (at the time) has a reputation of being rude with a handful of coworkers, and look down on people who are beneath her, position wise. If management is still the same, save yourself and mind, and GET OUT! I can say I'm much happier than I've ever been not working at WTXL anymore. My future is looking very promising now. No more worries of verbal abuse, inappropriate behavior or of them trying fuel "bad blood" among employees and myself. The storm is finally over.

Lacks transparency

Business outlook

Pros

Generous bonuses , Friday donuts, family like atmosphere.

Cons

Management is slow to get involved in situations they should be . Management refuses transparency as a rule. Employees receive nicknames if they like it or not . Management will make decisions at the last second and I typically work 5 off the clock hours a week to compensate . I recently found out how skewed the pay system is . I make four dollars less than an associate in the same position .

Good for learning, but not moral

Pros

Paid, some people are really willing to help you learn, and the program lets you gain hands on experience in each department.

Cons

Difficult hours, some of staff is stand-offish, and people do not tend to enjoy their jobs there. It seems most are just there for the duration of their contracts and then looking to move on.
