Pros

New skills for beginners in conservation are easily found here. If you are new to the conservation world this is not a bad place to start. But after 9 months you will have learned everything this company has to offer.

Cons

This company has the issue of miscommunication. It seems director's don't talk to the managers and managers don't talk to the leads or techs. And yet everyone should know what going on regardless.

Pros

You meet some really cool AmeriCorps members.

Cons

The Conservancy has headed down the worst path possible over the last year for one big reason: too many coaches, not enough players. Meanwhile crew leaders have fled in mass exodus due to the awful pay raise system and other issues but they're more worried about adding more managers to the mix. Constant rampant favoritism, and management constantly giving out false promises and gaslighting everyone. The only reason Walker Lake grew in size was due to the heavy snow melt, not anything the conservancy does: they just throw plants in a weed infested field and hope for the best. They give unrealistic expectations towards their employees with minimal to no training nor any genuine job growth opportunities. They allow problem AmeriCorps members to reign their terror on others and management or HR does nothing. They treat good employees like absolute garbage. Yerington, and Walker Lake deserves better.

Pros

Work outside, learn good technical and project management skills

Cons

Management do not communicate so you'll be working on one project given to you by a manager, then another manager will come up and add something or change it in the middle of the project. This happens constantly.
