Pros

Some nice people and I had a caring manager.

Cons

I enjoyed my team. I had a supportive manager and team, but we were greatly undervalued and overworked. No tangible goals agreed upon by the CEO Karl, and we were criticized for being “a bunch of dumb snowflakes” by Karl. Karl criticized the head of our department every week for things outside of our/her control. Karl never sat in on a meeting with us although it was encouraged. Despite our efforts to be transparent we were never good enough. Karl pays little, encourages hiring young talent to save money, and expects big results with sparse resources. Karl dates women in the office and clearly shows favoritism. If you have an opinion you are doomed so the key to success is to keep your head down. For Karl, money is never an object when it comes to having a good time and alcohol is involved. But money is an issue when you need a budget to do your job or it’s time for an annual review. WSC is infamous for “putting lipstick on a pig” but underneath is poor product, horrible leadership, and a company led by a man who doesn’t know what he’s doing because it was passed down to him by his father.

Not good outlook

Pros

Pre-covid there was promise of trip to Cabo. Doubting that will ever happen now. There are some good people working here, some people who care about their jobs so much and are good to work with.

Cons

Salaries and benefits are not good, leadership team is lacking, and having it be a family run business just makes it seem like you’re working hard to get one family richer which is not a good feeling. Do more with less? Why? So your family can buy another Tesla and BMW?

An Average Place to Work

Pros

Year by year the work environment got better. CEO genuinely wants to improve the workplace and listens to employees for suggestions. Most of the people working here were great to work with, and I have maintained some life-long friends.

Cons

For as great as the office could be, there were so many cons. The managers at this company were the worst managers I have had in my career. Management cared more about looking good to the CEO than helping employees improve. I was definitely micromanaged and constantly felt like there was a target on my back. I cried more than once. Any time I made a mistake I prepared to be berated and belittled. Upper management would talk about employees both behind their backs and out in the open in the office. It was hard to feel genuinely safe here. Additionally, some employees in the office (non-management) made the work environment uncomfortable at times. Things did eventually start improving, but by the time I left, I was so tense and on edge - mostly because of this job and the impact it had on me.
